Berkshire restaurant guide

Eating out in Berkshire is always a delight. There’s a wide range of restaurants, bars and cafes to choose from, with something for every taste and budget. The historic towns of Windsor is simply crammed with stylish cafes, continental restaurants, historic pubs, wine bars, family-friendly restaurants and hotels with fine dining. Every conceivable cuisine is on offer, from South American to Asian and French to Indian.

With much of Berkshire set in glorious countryside with a close proximity to the river, there are some stunning views to be enjoyed at various quality eateries and pubs in picture perfect villages and waterside locations. The village of Bray in Maidenhead is worth a special mention as it’s a real haven for foodies, being home to the three Michelin-starred Waterside Inn (the Roux brothers), the renowned and much revered Fat Duck (Heston Blumenthal) – which also holds three Michelin star, and the Italian fine dining at Caldesi in Campagna (Giancarlo Caldesi).

Berkshire is also proud of its quality local produce and there are regular farmers’ markets at Hungerford, Purley-on-Thames, Ascot and Windsor selling only the freshest meat, fish, dairy produce and vegetables. Diners can sample the local delights at many of the restaurants in these towns and across the whole of Berkshire.
