Although the food tasted great - It took ages to arrive and for the price very small portions - I as many other reviewers on here have been a regular consumer here for nearly 10 yrs but have seen a rapid decline in customer service - we stood by the door waiting for someone to at least acknowledge us for a few minutes - restaurant is very tired looking and pretty grim! Toilets are awful with many broken parts.

I only this occassion did not leave a tip as there was no actual service so to speak = not impressed

I can't give a score for food quality because I am still waiting for the delivery. Ordered at 7pm for 8:30pm delivery. Absolutely no problem we were told by the lady when the order was placed. It's now 9:20pm still waiting. I didn't realise the food was actually coming from China! Enough is enough we will not be using Riverside again.

We have been customers of riverside for the last 6 years and have had enough of the awful service. The food in the past has been good , although overpriced. There have been many problems in recent months. They are frequently late in delivering the food- our last order took an hour and 45 minutes to arrive! (we were told by lady on the phone it would be 45 minutes). But tonight has led to us to refuse to order from them ever again - on delivery of our order I realised they had not included the sweet and sour sauce for the chicken balls. I called them and told them what had happened and was told they didn't want my custom anymore as I must be lying!! Not only am I disgusted at the way that two members of staff spoke to me (including the manager) but also feel humiliated that I have been accused of lying-stealing! This is the worst customer service we have ever had and will not use them again. I would suggest you avoid riverside Chinese restaurant.

Took an hour and 15 minutes for delivery when told 40 minutes. Also had to question over charged bill with the driver who replied using foul obscene language and happy to do so in front of my young son, totally out of order. When reported to restaurant they were also very rude and not interested.

Terrible customer service .YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Had heard a couple of good comments about it, so we gave it a go. The clearly overworked waitress took our order and got the drinks in good time. Eventually the starter, a sharing platter, arrived. It had clearly been re-heated, and overdone, as it was very dry and the seaweed was far too salty to be edible.

By the time the crispy duck arrived we had already formed the view that we would try it but cancel the main course.Wish we had cancelled that as well as someone had only half-heartedly had a go at shredding it, and it was a pretty dry mess. Along with a pint and a half of beer and a portion of prawn crackers (price £2) this cost £38 - for the worst meal we have endured in a very long time. It was so bad I wish we had found the courage to refuse to pay for the food part of it. DO NOT GO HERE!!!

We had a lovely evening there yesterday. The staff were very friendly, we bought our drinks from the bar so there was no confusion about what we had ordered and the DJ was willing to play your own CDs if you had brought any music with you.
It was simply decorated but very festive.
Despite being very busy, our food was served on time, and the decorations were simple yet festive.
I would certainly go there again.

Myself and some friends went to this restaurant last night to celebrate my birthday after hearing how great the food was, originally i had booked for 6 ppl but phoned up late afternoon to add another 3 people on ...once there we were told that because our number was over 6 people we had to order off the party set menu and minimum spend per person was 25 pounds, i found this embarrassing that my guests had to pay out this amount whether they wanted to or not, and feel i should have been told this on the phone prior to us going!!.....

However the food was lovely, the staff were plesent enough but not overly friendly, i wil however say that the dj was a fantastic old fella who played watever songs we wanted, both old and up to date and that made the atmosphere!!

When the bill arrived i believe they added a hidden service charge but will find this out for sure, we were 18 pounds short, so i took my bank card to add the remaining amount and when the waiter came over for me to type in my pin number he had added 20 pounds instead of 18!!......i know its only 2 pounds but its the principal, how very cheeky, and i told him so.......i would go there again i think but not as a regular customer.

Had a very disappointig evening last Friday 10 dec 2010. I have been to this retaurant on a number of occasions but can categorically say I would never go back after the way the staff spoke to us. The people in my party were appauled and have never been spoken to like that by any organisation. We ordered a bottle of wine when our meal arrived, and we waited and waited, and throughout the entire meal we didnt have a drink. Eventually we managed to "flag" down a waiter to explain that our wine hadnt arrived and he went to get a bottle for us. However, at the end of the evening we were still charged for the bottle that never turned up. We tried to query this with the staff, but they wouldnt even listen, and they raised their voices to us in a rude manner, even though they couldnt actually prove that we had received the wine. It was such a shame as it spoit the evening and although I have been there many times before, it has definitely put me off going back.
