This restaurant comes from premier stock being owned by the same people running the excellent Botafoga It had a lot to live up to.

Booked a table for 7:30 warning bells were ringing when we arrived as the restaurant was less than a 3rd full. I started with Grilled vegetable Becky had the BBQ ribs. Extremely disappointed with Grilled veg a) it was cold, looked like it had been sliced and then grilled with a blow torch to get the burnt/grilled effect and had a slice of grilled Water melon which was the single biggest item on the plate. The occasional cube of Goat's Cheese were very nice and added the only flavour to this bland and worthless dish.

In contrast Becky's starter was OK but again nothing to rave about.

For a Main course I had the BBQ/smoky chicken, with a Side Salad all main courses come with chips, Becky had one of the burgers with a slaw side.

This was a much improved experience the chicken slices were soft and moist the BBQ sauce however seemed to be adding all the flavour and could quite easily have been direct from a HP Bottle. The chips were excellent.

Becky's burger was very nice stacked high with 2 burgers and sliced meat.

All of the above were ably assisted with a nice but expensive bottle of Tempranilo.

    We had no deserts

From an atmosphere perspective then yes perhaps the décor has been completed to be sympathetic to a Deep South Alabama BBQ House however what the hell happened to the music to finish this off. Modern pop no guys turn it off get some Blues Music on.

At £58 is a return visit likely, I suspect not the Alabama Smoke House is one of many restaurants in and around Huddersfield each offering a better deal and experience than what can be had here.

    Sorry Guys
