Top Value for money! Ordered take-away rice from the place. The old man who said he was a retired dr said if we put an excellent review on his website and trip advisor then we could have the rice for free. Well we said we would happily do that got free rice and it was not cooked! How venal this man is and dishonest. But we got free food and in tough times we have to be greatful. Won’t go again but then I DON’T THINK ANYONE DOES JUDGING BY THE LACK OF PEOPLE IN THERE LOLS THANKS SO MUCH BUT NO THANKS

No customers in this place the food took forever and when it arrived it was terrible. Not a nice place and the smell was bad. I will never go here again. Owner was rude and obnoxious and had a go at us for not liking his terrible food! No wonder he has no custom

Godson the host was a top guy. Really enthusiastic and welcoming. Telling stories and describing food. Proper entertaining.

Food order taken quickly and and arrived pretty quickly. Tasty food all round particularly the plantain and jerk. Also the spicy rice was spot on.

Finished off with the House cocktail that added to the jolly feel of the experience. Also generous with rum and portions.

    Thoroughly recommend.

We came here for a friend's birthday and really enjoyed it. We tried out lots of dishes and were able to bring our own birthday cake for her. The host was really welcoming and I was really pleased to try food that I'd never really eaten before. New decor really good!

Zanzibar has got to have offered the best Afro-Caribbean food I've had for a while, the food was delicious and warm and I will have no hesitation to order from this place again.

We arrived to be greeted by the proprietor who was very friendly. There was a bit of a gap between receiving the menus and being asked for our order, and there was quite a wait for the first course. We had Egusi soup and West Indian chicken soup, both of which were very tasty.

There was a wait again for the main course, Stewed pork with butter beans and Jerk chicken. These were both tasty and good value for the size of the portions. To go with we had rice and peas which was quite good, and fried plantains which could have been crisper.

The wine choice is not extensive but is drinkable, and red stripe beer was the real thing. The choice of desserts is limited, but the mixed fruit crumble was fine; the mixed fruit salad was a bit limited on the mixture of fruit but tasted okay.

We will be going back to try some of the other dishes on the menu.

Arrived to be greeted by the owner, who was very affable. here was quite a delay in getting the menus, and a further delay before we were able to order. The waiter was not very knowledgeable, but the owner came over to explain the menu.

Starters we okay, but a bit bland Jerk chicken was very tasty, as were the sweet dumplings and the jallof rice. We did not bother with desserts.

Arrived at about 8.30, the waiter wasn't sure if we could order one meal from the set menu and one from the normal, that took about 10 mins to sort out, he then couldn't describe what things on the menu were.

We ordered three starters, one what was described as a garlic bread to share. Th at confused everything, no one has three starters!

After 20 mins waiting I asked where the food was and was told it was coming, after 30 mins the manager said he had only got the order 15 mins ago and that it took a long time to prepare my starter but we could have the others as they were ready. 5 mins after that the garlic bread arrived. It was fried bread that had maybe seen some garlic. another 10 mins and the fried sweet potato arrived, basically chips but with sweet potato, finally, another 10 mins my veg arrived. Expecting good things I was shocked to find it was sliced raw veg in a bowl with a dipping sauce. I asked how that took 30+ mins to prepare, I was told it was because we had ordered 3 starters and that this was special and had to be prepared fresh.

At this point we offered to pay for the 2 dishes we had already eaten and said we were leaving, the owner then gave us a tirade of abuse about if we wouldn't respect the place then we weren't welcome. He didn't take our money and we left.

Over an hour to produce fried bread, chips and strips of raw veg and the place was less than half full, it was a joke!
