Via Cracow is a very inviting restaurant with an airy atmosphere where you don't feel cramped at each table. The owners make you feel welcome immediately you walk in, and can't do enough to make your meal pleasurable.

Polish food can sound heavy on the digestive system, but each course was well cooked and presented. The lady of the house was rather concerned when I order steak tartare, as a number of previous guests had not realised it comprised raw meat, with one poor lady actually crying when she saw it.

If a restaurant is confident enough to have steak tartare on the menu, then the meal has to live up to that confidence, and it did so. The meat was soft and tender, melting in the mouth. It was so good, I was tempted to order another plate, although the portions, as you would expect, are generous indeed.

If you want to try something outside your normal range, Via Cracow is well worth a visit. The food is excellent and you will always be welcomed with good bonhomie. Be warned though, Polish food is not for the faint of heart!
