Plymouth restaurant guide

The heart of historic Plymouth is an area known as Barbican, and this is quayside location is where you’ll find most of Plymouth’s best restaurants and cafes. One of the most popular is The Barbican Kitchen, housed in a former gin distillery and run by the famous Tanner brothers, Chris and James. Seafood lovers should head to Platters on the Barbican for some of the best fish and chips in town. The Barbican is located right next to Plymouth Hoe, one of the City’s top attractions; a green, open space, rich in history, with spectacular views encompassing Plymouth Sound, Drake’s Island, and even reaching as far as Cornwall.

One of Plymouth’s local specialities is the humble Cornish pasty and there are several excellent bakeries and pasty shops dotted around the city. And due to the city’s geographic position, fresh fish and seafood feature heavily on many Plymouth restaurant and takeaway menus.
