The Veggie Red Lion is East Anglia (and possibly the UK's) first all-vegetarian pub. The pub restaurant was opened by the current proprietor, Jan Wise, with the aim of offering vegetarian diners more choice and better quality food. The characterful pub is fast gaining a reputation as a destination restaurant for vegetarian and carnivorous diners alike.
Example dishes from the menu are: a curry of celeriac, cannellini beans & pistachio nuts; chestnut & mushroom hotpot; and green lentil and vegetable shepherds pie made with a cheese and wholegrain mustard mash. The menu is complemented by a daily changing specials board.
Most dishes on the menu are either vegan, or can be prepared so they are suitable for vegans upon request.
The Read Lion also sells a range of their own vegetarian and vegan ready meals to takeaway.
The owners also run River Green Cafe, a deli, restaurant and cafe in Trowse, near Norwich.

This was recommended to me by serveral friends all of which eat meat, we had two veggies and one meat eater in our party and we all completely spoilt for choice. The food was great! Brillian value for money. Highly recommended. I am told its best to book if your planning on going for an evening meal.
