A bit out of the way for us, but well worth the trip - especially for the fish and seafood. Huge portions mean we rarely manage more than two courses here. Our favourite place to go in the winter as it is always really cosy with real fires lit at the bar and in the restaurant.

I really like the Three Acres. Yes it is expensive, but both the food and service are well worth paying for. Always high up our list of places to eat for special occasions. We've probably been 20-30 times and never had anything but great food.

Eaten at The Three Acres many times over the years for birthdays and treats and really enjoy every visit. The staff are always very helpful and attentive without feeling overly so. The family favorite and my personal is the seafood platter, unfortunately its not on the winter menu. Really looking forward to another visit in December. Its the attention to detail without any fussiness that makes this restaurant stand out in the area.

Eclectic decor, but somehow it works well. Food is always spot on, portions are huge but not at the expense of quality. Friendly service. One of my favourite restaurants in Yorkshire... just wish it was a bit cheaper!

I can hardly believe it has been nearly 2 years since I left a review about The Three Acres. It has become a staple choice in our 'reliable places to eat' list.
The menu seems to have changed recently and the portion sizes are a lot better. The portions used to be massive, as in you could rarely finish your plate, let alone consider dessert!
My favourite thing on the menu is the seafood platter. It comes with a variety of seafood including prawns, whitebait, oysters, haddock and lobster and is served with chips.
The staff are excellent, there is often a lot of attention to detail such as more than one waiter bringing the food to your table so there is no waiting for everyone to get their food.
The prices are a little high at the Three Acres and it's definitely not somewhere to visit everyday unless you have a lot of cash! :)

I love the Three Acres. I went recently to try out their new winter menu, and am pleased to say it is up to their usual high standards! Service is really good to - staff are always smart, polite and attentive. The decor is what you might call "eclectic" - but somehow it really works here.
It's not cheap, but I think it's one of those places where you get what you pay for. Drinks are on the pricey side.

The first thing to say about the Three Acres is that the food is fantastic. Good quality ingredients well cooked. The menu changes several times a year, and both that I have eaten from have been very good. Presentation is impressive without being overly fussy. Portions are definitely Yorkshire-size, you'll do well to make it to desert - but do try as they're fantastic too. For the starter give the assiette a try, it's a great way to sample the their food.
The service at the Three Acres is very good. Staff are polite and attentive without being intrusive. Even on a quiet night, sat on our own in an out of-of-the-way part of the restaurant we were well looked after with drinks being offered as the glasses approached empty, and somebody checking that each course was OK a few minutes after it was served. One thing I have noticed is that a big effort is made to ensure everybody at the table gets their food at the same time - with staff waiting on other sections drafted in to ensure the food is served to everybody as quickly as possible, even for very large groups.
The combination of the above ensures that on busy nights the bar area and restaurant have that pleasant hum of 'people enjoying their dinner' that creates a great atmosphere. The decor of the bar area, and to a lesser extent the restaurant is busy to say the least - but centres on two things, champagne memorabilia and signed restaurant menus. The latter of these cover most of the available wall space - satisfied customers range in from Dicky Bird to Sharon Osborne to some-guy-who-used-to-present-that-thing-about-cars-on-Five.
On thing that really irritates me every time I visit is the number of expensive cars without blue badges parked in the disabled bays. Obviously this is something that happens all the time elsewhere too - but I have never seen it so often as I have here - it really stands out. The restaurant managers need tackle their doubtless lucrative but arrogant clients about this as - in my opinion - this reflects badly on the restaurant. There is more than ample parking, and none of it is more than 60 seconds walk from the front door. Talking of transport, if you want to take your helicopter (people do), there is ample room to land in the nearby fields - just give them a ring beforehand.
Overall The Three Acres is one of the best restaurants I have eaten at in Yorkshire so far, I look forward to returning.

I ate here this evening and had a lovely meal. The restaurant was quite hot though and made it quite uncomfortable as the evening wore on.
The staff said it was a new menu starting this evening but the food was great, well presented and plenty of it!
I'd highly recommend this place, it's got good quality food and friendly staff and I imagine that in the summer it has fantastic views over the Pennines!
