We have eaten at the Rugger Taven many times and have allways found it very friendly and value for money, and have never been disapointed in the food or the service.

Regular visitors or at least were till today. Had starters and main hubby got a call from home and had to leave I stayed to let kids have desserts asked if we could take his dessert home in napkin and very rude owner almost laughed and refused even though we had paid for 4 courses and we didn't even get offered our coffee also paid for. 4 courses would have been good value but we didn't even get all ours and no apology or explanation as to why they could not facilitate my simple consumer request either. Shame as foods actually really quite nice, but won't be visiting again in a hurry.

I have been to this establishment many times and every time I have been more than happy with the experience. The food is generally excellent both in quality and quantity. If I had to criticise anything I might just say that the lovely apple pie was a little spoilt by slightly lumpy custard. However, you do have to balance that out by saying "where else could you get a meal like that for that price" and straight away you know the answer is "you couldn't".

We have visited the Rugger Tavern on several occasions and have never been disappointed. The gentleman (and i do mean gentleman) serving behind the bar makes you feel very welcome and if you have not been before he explains the prices and procedure to you.The staff in the restaurant are polite in every way.The food itself is excellent value for the price you pay, where else can you fill your plate to overfill for £2:99. I have been to another well known nationwide carvery at many places in the country and its exactly the same in them all at a higher price (Rugger Tavern please ignore the last few words) LIKE ARNIE I WILL BE BACK

my daughter and her friend visited this venue last week with their two 3 year old daughters. The person who served them was rude, they had to pay full price for their daughters meal and got less meat than they had. they thought they had purchased a pudding but only one of them had a ticket and when the man realized that he had given out a ticket by mistake he went and snatched it back off them. they will not be visiting this establishment again.
