The Rainbow Inn in Cooksbridge, just outside Lewes has long had a reputation for good food. The pub now operates under Marco Pierre White's "Wheelers of St. James" brand (named after his London restaurant).
Food on the lunchtime menu is traditional British pub-grub, albeit refined versions - expect to find dishes such as fish & (triple cooked) chips with mushy peas, sausage & mash or York ham with fried duck eggs and chips on the menu. In the evening, you'll find more bistro style dishes such as rumb of lamb a la Dijonaise, with dauphinoise potatoes or spatchcock of poussin with chipolatas and fondant potato.
Marco Pierre White's own ale, "The Governor" is also available on tap.
There is a car park at the front of the pub, however at busy times this gets full early; there is some additional roadside parking available nearby.
Please note, at the time of writing, there is a £2 cover charge per diner.
