Visited the Jolly Beggar last weekend with my wife and young family. We were greeted by a waitress and shown to our seats and offered a drink whilst we perused the menu. The boys were able to play in the playroom in safety and permitted us to have a relaxing drink. The menu had a good selection and our meals came in good time. The food was very tasty and the portion size was also excellent- it was nice to be served 'real' chunky chips! Overall a very pleasant experience and will definitely visit again soon.

We went for a meal with a deal we got from Groupon. We were totally delighted! Waitress Shelly could not have been more pleasant or more accommodating. We had a choice of anything of the menu and a complimentary glass of wine. Everything was cooked exactly as we ordered and to our liking. The food was exceptional! I was lucky enough to speak to the chef Seamus and pass on our compliments. Trust me you do not have to go into Belfast to get a meal of this quality - just go to The Jolly Beggar - I can't wait to go again,

    Oli

My wife and I visited the jolly beggar recently with a groupon token. We were both delighted with the food and service. We went in the afternoon and found the place well presented with a pleasant atmosphere. We have been back since on our own expense and again found the same experience.

I bought a Groupon voucher for for this venue and myself and a friend had dinner there last Sunday evening. We were entitled to a main meal each and a glass of wine each. We started with mussels to share, in a delicious white sauce and a type of home made soda bread - absolutely yummy! We each had the steak, cooked exactly as we had ordered, chunky chips and fresh vegetables, along with our glass of wine. The staff couldn't have been more attentive or helpful. The venue was relaxing and welcoming with background music. There was no pressure to leave our table or move on. It was well worth the Groupon voucher and I would have been happy to pay the full menu price for what we had. Anyone who has not tried this pub/restaurant, give it a try! I can thoroughly recommend a Sunday as a very enjoyable experience.

I also purchased a grab one deal for this pub/restaurant and took my wife there on a Sunday afternoon. The place was relatively busy and found the atmosphere warm and friendly. We too were given a menu designed for the special offer but felt that a choice of four starters, five mains was quite sufficient . The food honestly surpassed our expectations so much so we have returned on a further two occasions with the family and paid full price yet requested the same food as the grab one deal. I rarely leave reviews but felt that the previous comments were very unfair indeed and wanted to share our experience with all. In summary if your looking for a relaxed friendly family restaurant offering great quality inexpensive food then try the Jolly Beggar yourself and I can confidently say you will not be disappointed, enjoy!

I visited the jolly beggar on sat 20th of oct with my partner and children. I was a bit apprehensive of trying this due to the previous comment, on entering I was greeted by a friendly member of staff who showed us to are seats. Even tho the bar was quiet busy we were served promptly and professionally. The atmosphere was good and relaxing. The choices on the menu were excellent. The food was fantastic and good size of portions there was also a games room for my children to play in which I was over the moon with. I would definitely recommend to others.

I purchased a grab one deal and headed to the restaurant on Saturday afternoon to sample the menu. On arriving we found a table and waited on a waitress to take our order. Having sat for nearly ten minutes I went to the bar and asked do we have to order at the bar I explained about the grabone voucher? The bar man sent a waitress down with menus, however as we were about to order our chosen dishes the waitress hesitated then said its a different menu for the deals. We were given a page with a limited menu. We chose our meals and when it came it was not of good quality it consisted of what can only be described as frozen rubbish. We then waited forever on the waitress bringing our drinks bill (which my mum paid as id bought the food) On getting outside we realised we had been charged for drinks we had already paid for on my first trip to the bar.

NOT A PLEASANT EXPERIENCE WHATSOEVER! I wouldn't recommend wasting your money. You would get a nicer meal in Wetherspoons with a free drink! (really!) Also there was rave music playing in the backround. Nothing relaxing about it whatsoever!
