We were in Lakes last weekend (July 2012) and spent 2 nights in Windermere, so wanted to have some Indian Food instead the formal dining at the hotel.
My Sat - Nav showed me this Emporor of India just by the main road. Went upstairs the look was good but the people who worked there didn't look welcoming me. When I asked for a Take Away menu, one of them just threw the Menu Card at me. I must have turned away at that point but parking was a nightmare during that busy weekend at Windermer and also I thought they would show some respect next moment on.
I placed my order and unlike in any other Indian Restaurants I have been (I'm an Asian by origin) they asked for the bill to be paid first, which I can understand in a tourist destination... but hey I'm not going to run away with your food Ali (that was the guy at the counter)
I've ordered the following;
2 Vege Biriyani
1 King Prawn Rogan Josh
1 Bombay Aloo
4 Poppadams
Total bill is whopping £27.00 (I usually buy the same in Glasgow for £16.00 and they are Authentic and delicious)
Oh did I mention they refused to give some disposable cutlery... the senseless but true answer was "We don't have any" - Thank you Ali for the compliments.
Now the tasteless bit... went to the Hotel (needless to say I was very hungry) opened up the dishes one by one... first sight was not great...
Biriyani: I saw the full size Okra (ladies fingers) in the Vege Biriyani - First time I saw Okra in Vege Biriyani... yuk...
Prawn: Only 6 of them in an 8 pound dish and loads of tomatoes to make the dish a big one. Tasteless, no Salt at least to make my mind.
Bombay Aloo and the Gravy for the Biriyani: They both tasted the same yuky flavour
Onion Mix: Horrible rotten onion, must have kept in the fridge for days.
Poppadam: This is the greatest of all. I mean it... compared to all other dishes this tasted very good. You know why - they were made by someone else not by the "Emporor of India"
If I knew about the quality of their food, I would have bought some pre-packed Indian Food from Tesco down the road.
Bottomline: DO NOT GO THERE.
If you really want to waste your money... just throw them in the lake down the road...

I faced the worst customer service and bad food in my life in this restaurant. Avoid this restaurant if you want to have a good time and food.
