Have been a regular visitor over the last 2 years once a month. In this time have found there to be a nice ambience ,decent ales and a nice selection of Reasonably priced meals. However on our latest visit sat 21st we were for the first time very disappointed.I ordered the ale pie and chips and was surprised to be served, after 1 and 1/2 hours, a pie burnt at the edges and looking like it had been thrown on the plate ,carrots were served when i asked for no carrots .And was served about 5 chips . My wife ordered scampi, these were overcooked.. And my son ordered one of the burgers which was served on what looked like warburtons bap from tesco. No one checked throughout the meal on the quality of the food , so there was no recourse to complain.
I regret to say that a regular customer has been lost.
The staff were polite but were too busy /short staffed to give the right level of service .

The Dog Inn is a really pleasant family pub/restaurant set in a nice area ideal for children!
Waitress service is provided and the waiters and waitresses have always been attentive and helpful when I have eaten there.
The décor is very nice and gives a very homely and warm atmosphere. It does get very busy on weekends with families so if you’re not keen on lots of childen then that’s something to think about!
It is a 2 for 1 restaurant so the meal prices are very cheap. There is a good choice of food on the menu. They have starters, main meals and desserts and the drinks menu is very good, also.
The wait for food is never very long and 9 times out of 10 the food is great. There has been a couple of occasions where I haven’t been totally satisfied with my meal, but most of the time the food and service is great and good value for money.
The only thing I would say is if you’re looking to eat out later on a Sunday, they do close the kitchen early if the restaurant is quiet which isn’t great.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area.
