The Bull's Head is a family run pub and restaurant in the small village of Ogden, near Newhey in Rochdale. The pub is located off the beaten track on Lane Bottom at the end of Ogden Lane. The Bull's Head is run by husband and wife Peter and Marie who took over the ownership in 2008 after 17 years as chef and head chef at the pub.
The restaurant has a large menu full British favourites and "pub grub" dishes such as steak and kidney pie, beef pudding, lasagne and fish and chips. The lunchtime menu includes sandwiches, salads, omelettes and a small selection of main courses.
Before 7pm on weekeday evenings, diners can also take advantage of an "early bird" offer and order from the lunchtime menu.
On Wednesday nights, the Bull's Head has a "curry night" offering diners curry and a drink for £7.50.

We have been going to the bull as a family for over 15 years.
We moved away from Prestwich 10 years ago but when we meet up with the family we always go to The Bull. The food is always excellent.
The landlady is always very nice and helpful. The atmosphere very relaxed. We have tried surrounding places to eat but none come close to the bull for quality service and satisfaction.

We visited this pub for a drink and lunch before walking round the reservoir. As a group of 4 ladies we waited at the unattended bar for quite some time before a lady came to serve us. There was no greeting given just a look of displeasure when we said we wanted to pay separately and a definite tut. When we moved to the restaurant area and our order was taken the same lady upon taking our order asked if our choice of food was from the lunch menu or other menu, when we said we had only seen the one menu and looked confused no explanation as to the difference was offered so we just said yes and hoped for the best. When we asked what bottles of wine they had she said there's a wine menu on your table. Apart from this the food was very nice and very reasonably priced, however the experience definitely lacked pleasantries and there are plenty of cheap places to eat in the area where you are made to feel more welcome so I doubt I will return.

Most meals carter favourably presented and in general excellent value - however they fail when it come to reheating their pies which results in 'limp and soggy' pastry.
Raising this issue with the chef was not a favourable experience. Furthermore the failure to only Guinness in pint cans (when for a lady) is a 'no no '.
Altogether not the best of experiences. Bring back the previous owners.

We have visited the Bulls Head several times on our horse hacks. The landlord and landlady could not have been more helpful. The warm welcome and high standard of care they have given to both horses and riders has been exceptional. The food has been first class for us humans and the fact that they have gone the extra mile providing buckets of water and carrots for the horses just shows what nice caring people they are. We would highly recommend to anyone.

phoned the Bulls Head to make a booking, being 23rd Dec, however told to just turn up, previous experiences of just turning up have resulted in some terrible meals, however this can not be said for the Bulls Head, four of us turned up at around 18:30 along with my 23 month old grandson, we asked for a table and shown immediately to a table,as my grandson likes to sit on normal chairs, the owner provided her granddaughter's own chair which fits to a normal chair, drinks ordered we turned to the menu, the choice was good, for starters I opted for black pudding in a cheese and mustard sauce, this was undoubtedly the best I have ever tasted. my wife chose pate, which she described as beautiful, son in law had the ribs, his wife had mussles, these were not in the shells but served in a white wine sauce, which she described as not what she expected but very good, starters over we turned our attention to the main course, I decided on the gammon steak with salad, when it arrived the plate I could not beleive what was placed in front of me, the gammon filled the plate and was about 1" thick with what I thought was the salad, however another bowl arrived with the salad, which was a meal in itself. my wife decided on the salmon with a dill and cream sauce, my son in law chose one off the special board which was home made mince and onion pie, my daughter chose the duck in plumb sauce, various choices of potatoes available however the chips were not the usual oven chips but what I call proper chips home made, excellent. Various desserts were available whilst tempting, stomachs could not put any more in them, would I go back again, the answer is a very positive yes.
