We have had fish and chip Fridays. Ordinary menu though the week and new years eve for the last three year. Have yet to find a fault with food or staff, would highly recommend a visit to any one .You would be most welcomed.

What a gem of place this is!! Our first visit was opportunistic as we were passing by, it looked like a nice place and worth a try. We are so pleased we did and we will certainly be back. The food was fantastic, excellent quality and very reasonably priced, the service was faultless, staff all very helpful, barstaff very welcoming, what a lovely friendly atmosphere in beautiful surroundings, very relaxing.
We would certainly recommend this place, its a real find!

Absolutely love this place its a real gem! The pub is really quaint with beautiful gardens. My kids love to run about the big garden and play - it brings back fond memories of my younger years spent there in the sunshine in the beer garden :o) Bev is so friendly and welcoming we always feel relaxed and well fed. The food is absolutely scrumptious and you get lots of it - there is so much to choose from on the main menu and always plenty nice specials on at really good value. We love Thursday night Curry night - curry, rice, naan and a drink for £6.50 ! My other favourite is fish and chips yum yum! I know a few people who get this to take away too! I don`t know much about beer but everyone always talks about how good it is here :o) This place is steeped in history too - take a look at the photos on the walls. Love it!

In my opinion, not being from the area I found the Blacksmiths Arms to be very family orientated, calm relaxing atmosphere. On the first visit steak night was exceptional and got free bottle of wine for £20 for two steak dinners!!!! cant fault it, so decided to pay a second visit to experience a T Bone steak which I would rate as one of the best in the north east. I would highly recommend Tuesday night for Steak Night and another night for any other food. Staff are very accommadating and will "go the extra mile" to make your night a very special night. I would also add that they also serve a selection of real cask ales served to a high standard. I highly recommend anyone wanting a real taste of warmth and enjoyment to visit THE BLACKSMITHS ARMS AT PRESTON LE SKERNE just outside Newton Aycliffe. YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My partner and I eat out at the Blacksmith arms about once a month, and have not found any other pub that compares to the quality of food and service we have received. The whole experience is fantastic, with gorgeous home cooked food. The staff can't do enough for you. We have spent every New Years eve there for the last 6 years and will continue to do so as we couldn't begin to find a better place. I highly recommend people trying this establishment as you will definitely not be disappointed.

I've eaten at this restaurant on well over a dozen occasions, typically with my girlfriend. I’ve never had a bad experience personally, although one time I went with my family the waitress “forgot” to write down my mothers order (it then transpired they didn’t have what she ordered in), meaning she had to order something else after our meals arrived. no apology was given or drinks offered or anything, just a somewhat shirty response when my mother complained afterwards. Besides that one blip in an otherwise perfect record (which could have just been attributed to the staff working that night), the food is excellent. I almost always go for the fillet steak (Yum!). Staff are friendly and the place is pleasant and quaint. It seems funny however, that when the place is quiet, it takes a lot longer to get your food than when it’s full, might just be me though!
