Great little pub, it is my local and i go there on a regular basis, the value for your money is excellent, it isn't a Thai restaurant any more it now serves pub grub which is delicious, lovely staff great atmosphere and since the firefly has closed has become even better with entertainment, quiz nights and more staff which make the service even better. I plan to have my 21st birthday there :D

Found this pub by the off chance and it was so good we've returned! The food is excellent, the staff were friendly and welcoming. Nothing like what the first review said at all... perhaps the lady should have visited a restaurant if she wanted peace and quiet whilst she ate.... It is a pub and pubs show sport.. It is advertised outside after all... Anyway as I said, its a great place to eat and I for one will be going again.

in response to the review by ally, I would like to say that I was in the pub at the time that they were eating and his/her description is not wholly accurate-
There was no American Football on the TV. In fact it was horse racing that had been requested to be shown by other customers
There is one small speaker where you sat - you are not surrounded by them
The rap music you so incorrectly describe is actually the current Top 40. The pub is not a themed one from the sixties - apologies your genre of music was not to hand but welcome to the 21st century
The barman is not overweight as you so rudely put it. He is 6 foot 5 so compared to you everyone must be overweight
Respect for customers - well maybe you should speak to the ever growing client base that comes in. There are no issues with them
As rightly was said it is a pub. There are other people that need to be catered for. A happy medium needs to be reached and it has at the Black Lion.
If you do want to have a meal in silence I suggest a flask of soup in the library. Please grow up

Came in ordered a meal ...That was the first mistake sat down to eat and noticed the speaker from the TV was everywhere asked if it coud be turned down whilst we ate ..Lisening to american football commentry is not my ideal. May aswell been asking for the moon by the look recieved from the overweight barman ...He did turn it down ..but 5 mins later it was replaced by some god awfull rap music at even a higher volume. this gave way to Ads for Comet and other crap..A nice way to eat & when I made a noise about it i was told it was a "Pub"... Yeah a pub with no respect for customers i think. Dont go there its not a pleasent experiance.
