Our first visit to Thackeray's on Tuesday 8th January will be the first of many. Very very impressed. Lovely building, just the right atmosphere, attentive staff and absolutely delicious food.

The Market Menu was amazing value for money and gives you the full Michelin Star dining experience for just £28.50 for 3 courses.

A lovely evening, not just a meal out but a real top quality experience. And our bill, for two people with a bottle of decent wine and a glass of port each plus bottled water ... around £100 which was fantastic value.

Slendid dinner in Tunbridge Well's oldest building - the white clap boarded former home to William Makepeace Thackeraym who wrote Vanity Fair here.

Unfortunately, it wasn't quite warm enough to eat on the delightful Japanese Terrace.

Sevice was attentive, but not stuffy or overly intrusive.

Quite why this place never regained the Michelin stars it held for three years is beyondme. The cooking is first rate and prentation a work of art.

My rabbit and turbot were exquisite. Not a cheap evening, but the du jour and market menus offer terrific value
