I decided to visit Ridge farm today with my wife and 6yr old having not visited for a very long time. Phone staff were pleasant and on arrival desk staff were also polite and seated us 15 minutes early. However it does not look as though it has been redecorated since my last visit some ten years previous.

We were given a table next to a large family with several small children, who insisted on playing hand held games at full volume throughout our entire visit. Our waitress came to take our order and gave an upward jerk of the chin in a gesture of "what do you want" but without actually speaking. Having ordered the carvery she went to walk away and I had to call her back to order our drinks.

The food was below average, the service was well below average and the atmosphere intolerable hence we paid and left without ordering dessert. I will not be returning in the foreseeable future.

Great food, good service and value for money. Plenty of table space, all on ground level so handy for disabled access. Nice background music, Requires a bit of a facelift in decor. Going back in two weeks time with relatives so it must be good.

    Highly recommended.

Hadn't been to this pub for several years, the last time I was there it was lovely. This time, not so good. Very shabby and dated, not very clean, really needs to be redecorated. Cocky bar staff who kept telling us he was 'a lazy scouser'. Overly loud music blaring out throughout meal. Had the all day breakfast, cheap at £4.00 but poor quality ingredients and egg, bacon and hash brown overcooked. Bit disappointing. Have to say the carvery smelled delicious. Would not visit this pub again unless I hear it's changed hands or been done up.

Unsure after its recent negative reviews but after not having been in a long time went today. Were seated straight away even though we were 40 minutes early. Bar staff were quick, chatty and pleasant. Carvery was great, plenty of food, meat was delicious, bringing fresh veg out all the time. Bonus in that its quite spaced out in the dining area compared to lots of pubs so with a noisy baby we didn't feel like we were annoying people. All in all thoroughly enjoyed it, good value for money and no dishes!

Oh and in response to the carrot comment, it's called 'rustic' they are meant to come with the peel intact. Some people are never happy!

There have been several issues when we visited. The first issue was the cleanliness of the bar and crockery. We were given dirty crockery with our beverages. We complained and it took 6 attempts to find clean crockery. There was graffiti on the bar and the stationary in full view of the customers, calling the manager expletives. The staff had no respect for the manager or the customers. Another complained politely about the length of wait for their food to be delivered and the member of staff accused the customer of being rude and that he didn't like the customers tone. The food and value for money was adequate but not exceptional. The staff and lack of cleanliness are chasing business away.
