Having read the various reports provided, I feel I must put in 'my 5 penny worth' !

My partner and I have had a number of meals/buffets there and have always found the food and service excellent.

In fact, having taken a friend from London there last week, we are now booked in again tomorrow to meet up with my mother and my sister & husband, who will have travelled up from Nottingham (because they enjoyed it so much last time).

If I find things less than excellent, I will let you know.

As cyclist we call every Saturday when we do our 40 mile round ride. Good changes are taking place here, we have been slowly seeing the tea rooms being brought up-to-date but not losing any of its character...if anything better.

Pauline is a sweetheart, along with her fantastic staff who are attentive, we appreciate things can be a little bit slow especially when they are busy, but an apology is always given. The food is excellent, especially the home made cakes (to die for), so from our point of view keep up the good work ladies and I am sure you will go from strength to strength as the Tea Rooms develop.

We will continue for as long as possible (legs willing) to call and see you most Saturdays. x

    Dave & Mark

My experience normally has been good, but Sunday 11th march we were told when we arrived at 3.47pm in a very frosty manner, and they closed at 4.00pm, and they only had tea and cakes left, which is what we wanted. They took our order which was 2 scones jam and clotted cream and tea, there was no coffee because the machine had broken, so one person was asked to have instant. The clotted cream was like a frozen block,we were only given one scone because they hadn't got 2 small ones, the service was very poor. When asked if we could pay up front they said they would sweep up around us. If they wanted to close at 4.00pm they should say last orders at 3.30pm

Arrived at the counter at 3.45 pm on a Saturday afternoon and was told that they were closed, even though the sign clearly said they were open until 4pm. Another family were also turned away just as we were leaving. We only wanted a quick hot drink on our way home! Couldn't comment on the standard of food etc as we weren't allowed any. Perhaps they should have a sign which states when last orders are taken. Will not be returning!

This is a totally unique experience with a feeling from the old days. We liked it very much as it is. Great choice of homemade food, in particular pies & drinks also good. What else would anyone want in a tea room but good old fashioned food with tea with other preferences, good service & warm surroundings! The ambience is old fashioned but that's how it's meant to be, in keeping with the Old School House of days gone by. Will visit regularly.

Homemade food hot, good service with a smile. Not expensive, I will go again.

After a friend suggesting I came to The Old school house tea room, I then made a plan to take a friend of mine on for lunch. It was a Friday at 12:30 the car park was packed, when inside we had to wait for a table, first they said 20mins, so we had a browse at the cards and jams they had on sale, but after 5mins a table came available, so much choice on the menu, and a specials on a big old fashion(in a nice way) blackboard, we both went for the pie, my friend a Chicken and Mushroom and myself the Minced beef and Potato, the plates were full when it arrived after just time 5/10 mins, with home-made pie new potato, carrots and peas, and the gravy in a gravy boat.

    Would visit again with friends.

Well we visited this tea room after a visit to clumber park one afternoon. What a pretentious place it is. An Old school room in need of a little brightening up but looking as though the owners are trying to act as if theyre a top class venue.

The staff all in their little black and white waitress aprons look like something out of hercule poirot and bob about like this is a cafe during world war II. It might as well be because it has the biggest selection of "coffin dodgers" as customers more akin to a home for the elderley ("have the visitors been yet").

We ordered tea as it was a "tea" room but honeslty how long does it take to make a pot of tea and bring it to a table we waited no less than 15 minutes and when we got the tea it was of course lukewarm and stewed having been stood so long.

That, coupled with the old man ( the owner/) loitering around as if we wanted to steal something and the scraggy apologies for plants on sale at £4.00 each means that this place is not for people who want a nice refreshing cup of tea.

Best suggestion is the caravan on the A614 at Olleron Roundabout. Its fresh hot and a dam sight cheaper too!!
