I ate at Nelson Street again last night, what can I say what a difference a few months makes, the service was exceptional, we were given a 5* show, the staff were friendly, attentive despite the fact it was a busy Saturday night both my wife and I were extremely happy with everything as always the food was out of this world, I really fancied a steak so we skipped the starters (all of which looked lovely) when the steak came out - my goodness I was not disappointed, there are good steaks and there are GREAT steaks this was a GREAT steak, it was a 10oz Aberdeen Angus rib eye, sweet, juicy, lean, cooked to perfection, a real joy on the taste buds, the onion rings were really really nice, a light batter just the right amount of onion, and the rustic chips were out of this world, for dessert I had Chocolate Caramel Salted Tart - WOWZER again another triumph for the chefs at Louis !!! a seriously good couple of plates of food that I am extremely happy to recommend - I only wish I was still there eating them !!!

Thank you Louis and the team a top night of food and a pleasure to frequent your establishment.

I would like to share my 3 visits to this establishment, first visit - TOTAL write off, however given that we booked within there first couple of weeks of opening we accepted the fact that Nelson St had just opened and the head waiter did sincerely apologise to us explaining that they had over booked and gave us a small token of apology which we gladly accepted, and a few weeks later we frequented Nelson Street once again and experienced a lovely evening waited on with extreme professionalism, food was absolutely fantastic both my wife and I were satisfied beyond all belief, to the point we recommended Nelson Street to many friends.

We have just left Nelson Street - let me share with you our evening, arrived at 8pm greeted with a smile and shown to our table, menus were offered promptly and drinks orders were taken and delivered within minutes, we placed our orde,r 10 minutes after our order was taken our waiter came over to us to explain that what we had ordered would take 25 minutes as it is cooked from fresh (OK well I would hope that most of the menu would be cooked from fresh but hey we accepted this) 35 minutes later our Pan Seared Chicken arrived and what a delight!!!! Chicken moist, veg cooked to perfection an exemplary meal by any standard especially at the price, 15 minutes after we had finished, our waiter who had been keeping his friends watered fed and extremely well taken care off, finally arrived to clear our table - we were asked if we would like to see a desert menu (at this point we had not once been asked if we would like any more drinks despite the fact our glasses had been empty for over 25 minutes) 25 further minutes had passed and we had not seen a desert menu, despite my best efforts to catch the eye of our waiter who again had been waiting his favourite table excellently - I HAD TO PHONE THE RESTAURANT from my table to ask for a desert menu, I haven't even mentioned that our waiter had also kept an extremely lovely older couple who were next to us waiting for over 50 minutes who had there bank card out, desperate to pay for there meal, eventually the head waiter came over and apologised for his colleague, we ordered our deserts which came out and as always the food spoke for itself - impeccable, a beautiful trio of Rhubarb and a gorgeous treacle tart.. I will keep coming back to this restaurant as the food is out of this world, the chef is exceptional however as a word of warning if you want to book this restaurant make sure its on a quiet day as the front of house are a shambles and cannot handle a full service. - Food 10/10 Service 0/10

A great meal, clearly cooked by someone who knows what they are doing. Service was slow but they were busy on the Friday evening we visited and I don't mind waiting for a meal that was so delicious. As the restaurant filled up it became very noisy, you couldn't hear the music (which is actually a good thing because it seemed to be the same song over and over on a loop!) I think this is because of the low ceilings and open plan... the sound has nowhere to go, leaving it nearly impossible to have a conversation.

The thing that REALLY let them down was the toilets. They were filthy and smelly. I mentioned this to a member of staff and she just looked at me blankly as if to say 'what do you want me to do about it!' In fact I'm glad I was sitting near the front door as I'm sure you could smell them if you were sitting near by.

I would still recommend this restaurant as the food was excellent. Not great for a romantic meal for two as the noise level was too high. Not suitable for families. Great for a group of friends or colleagues as long as you don't need a wee! I walked to the restaurant as I live near by but I don't see where you could park if you came by car.

Had a fantastic meal with friends at Nelson Street. The service was excellent and everyone was very friendly and helpful. The food was second to none. You can pay an awful lot more for this standard of food. Really recommend the pork belly.

Had a wonderful evening here with my wife and her family. The food was fantastic, but it was the service that made the evening for us - perfect, never had such great service and we've been to restaurants far more expensive than this! I am a loyal customer in the making :-).

An excellent evening. The staff were excellent and new exactly what they were doing. Everything was well organised. The food was excellent and well presented. Excellent value for money. Finding the phone number is a bit of a problem but I understand that is not entirely of their own making. The correct number is 01280 815556.
