After waiting for the dust to settle after the recent takeover the w/e seemed to be the right time to visit.I understand the new owners came from the another local the Livesey Arms which we did some time ago with the family.Well overall nothing spectacular the best they do is fish and chips so that says everything really bistro/bar food expensive wine list and the surroundings are somewhat tacky but I hate black paint when it is just to cover a poor job. Even worse was a lovely waft of smoke through the dining/conservatory area from the people partaking in the evil weed outside the doorway much to the disgust of the wife. All in all expensive and certainly not as good as the magnificent Steels for the fish and chips, service not clever and nobody seemed to be organizing the staff/service and running a bath sprang to mind so will not be rushing back especially for a special evening when you need a little care and attention.

After hearing many mixed reviews about the Millhouse after been taken over again, we decided to give it a go and see for ourselves. We were a party of 6.
First impressions were mixed with the first noticeable change being the menu. It has been reduced to a double sided A4 laminated sheet with a cut down choice from previous visits but the usual Mill House classics were present.
Our party had the battered chicken, mixed grill and goats cheese special. All were well presented but nothing special. The mixed grill at £19.50 was a little dissapointing with a mediocre ammount of meat. This meal at another local restaurant a few weeks earlier was far superior and a fraction of the price.
4 of us decided to opt for the sweets which were a mixed bag. The main dissapointment was the cheese board which could have been a lot better. At £5 there was approximately £1.50 worth of cheese and 5 biscuits. This was also served with a bowl of salad rather than the usual apple and grapes that would normally come with this dessert.
Overall although the meals were a little over priced, the food quality was ok but this not somewhere we would rush back to, which is a shame as we often used to visit the Mill House being a superior place to dine.
