Stopped by in Horsham for the day and was surprised by the lack of quality restaurants in the area until we came across this lovely place. As soon as we walked in we where greeted by a fantastic smile from the young lady working there and really felt comfortable. The restaurant itself has plenty of character and service is wonderful. My meal was cooked wonderfully as was my wife's and didn't cost an arm and leg either. Next time we are in Horsham, I won't waste my time looking for somewhere to have a quality meal now that I know about the Merrythought!

What a lovely place, to have a nice unmicrowaved meal that most places seem to offer these days. My meal was lovely and my family enjoyed there meal as well. Service was very good we had a lovely lady serving which I think was most probably the manager; she greeted us with a massive smile which made us feel at ease. We will be going there again and would recommend it to everyone!!!

What a hidden gem! I almost wouldn't have known about this place had it not been recommended by a colleague of mine who swears by it. The place has a really nice old Tudor feel to do it - with big wooden beams everywhere (is that Tudor? History lessons obviously lacking on my part)
A group of friends and I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant a few Saturdays ago. I was quite surprised by how busy they were. The staff however kindly accommodated us in a secluded corner.
The food was lovely. I personally had the deep fried scampi which I would thoroughly recommend to any fish lovers. My companions ordered a chicken curry and the giant mixed grill. We all left empty plates and it was obvious that much of the food was freshly cooked.
As for the service, all I can say is it is warm, friendly and informal.
All I would say is that there was a tendency to be a slight queue for the toilets at times when the restaurant was particularly busy.

All in all a very nice experience, although it is a crying shame they do not open in the evenings.

This is a fantastic little restaurant and we will definately go there again. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the service is great. There is a huge selection on the menu with something for everyone and a special menu for children ( the children are even given some toys to play with while waiting for the food). We had mushroom omelette and chips and mixed grill. I have never seen such a beautiful fluffy omelette and it was so tasty. My friend was over from Spain and wanted to try some English food so had the pie of the day with puff pastry, i dont think they would have needed to wash the plates after we finished with them - they were so clean. Portions were extremely generous so we shared a sweet - meringue shells with cream and sauce drizzled on the top - absolutely to die for! Highly recommend it there, especially when you are hungry!

Don't go here. We will not go again.
Meal 1. Roast pork, with a roast potato (yes 1 ) a scoop (ice cream scoop) of mash potato, the pork - a very small helping, which was swimming, or rather sunk in a soup of gravy.
Meal 2. Beef and mushroom pie. The pastry resembled hard greasy burnt cardboard, chips were hard, I think maybe re-fried. This meal was also smothered in gravy (possibly an attempt to hide the dreadful pastry).
The only plus was the veg and tender beef in the pie.
Very expensive for a rubbish couple of meals !!
Merrythought, here is a thought - provide some small gravy boats for patrons to use.
