Maharaja is a Keralan (South Indian) restaurant in Liverpool city centre not far from Lime Street station. Opening daily for lunch and dinner the restaurant is a great place to stop for a bite to eat. Each dish is prepared using traditional family recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation. There is a large vegetarian choice for both starters and mains alongside a number of meat and fish dishes.
Large groups and parties are well catered for, there is a function room with space for 30 diners and the restaurant seats 100. A takeaway service is available all day and a delivery service is available in the evenings from 6 until 10.

The food here is delicious, its my favourite restaurant in Liverpool. There is a good selection of vegetarian choices for starters and mains. All the dishes are individual - rather than one curry sauce with the different choices for meat/veg underneath like you often get. The food isn't greasy or oily (many of the dishes are cooked in water instead of ghee) the flavors are more delicate than hot. It is really good value for money - starters are about £4 and main courses are between £7 and £10 . The only thing I would think about giving less than five stars for is the atmosphere/decor as it's a bit plain and it can be quite quiet in there. The food is so good that it more than compensate and its great to be able to get a table even at short notice.
