Leena's is on the main road through Lindey - Lidgate Street, a few minutes outside Huddersfield town centre. The family run restaurant opened its doors in 2007, and has since earned a reputation amongst local curry lovers for great Punjabi food.

The restaurant has a buffet available Sunday, Monday, Tuesday evenings (from 5pm) which often features "home style" Punjabi dishes alongside some of the more recognisable "restaurant" dishes.

The restaurant buys from local suppliers, and takes pride in sourcing ingredients on quality not price.

The menu at Leena's features plenty of choice for those with gluten free, vegetarian and vegan diets (please check with restaurant staff before ordering). There are also plenty of healthier options on the menu with virtually no ghee (clarified butter) used in the restaurant - healthier vegetable and olive oils are substituted.

All food is cooked to order.

Having not been to Leenas for many months, we went this evening and it simply reminded us how fantastic the food is. There were three of us, 1 had a starter of the chicken shashlik followed by a hot lamb balti. I had the lamb bhuna which was divine. My friend had the chicken tikka masala which was equally good. We will definitely be going back again again very soon!

We made a spur of the minute decision to visit Leena's on Sunday evening. We'd had the restaurant recommended to us by a couple of people so thought we'd give their buffet a try on Sunday evening.

The buffet had a small, but varied selection of mains (4 meat, 1 veggie) as well as a selection of starters, rice, bread and chips for those that want them.

Unusually, two of the main courses where "home-style" Punjabi dishes, including my favourite keema matar - minced lamb with peas. I tried a little of everything on offer at the buffet, and it was all good - the best curries I've had in Huddersfield.

As previous reviewers have said, the food really is the star here - please don't be put off by the fact that the decor needs a little TLC.

At the time of writing, the buffet is £6.99 per person - you won't get food as good as this, at a price like this anywhere nearby.

    Highly recommended.

I probably wouldn't have visited Leena's was it not for a recommendation for it recently. We chose to visit on a Sunday with the buffet being on offer.

There was a relatively small selection, but dont let that put you off as everything really well cooked.

To start there were kebabs, chicken wings and onion bhajis - the flavour of the kebabs was fantastic, they were full of spices and tasted great. I lost track of the mains but my favourite was the chicken karahi. Everything tasted fresh and nothing looked stale as it sometimes can with buffets.

It was excellent value at £6.99! It was just a shame to see it so empty - this place deserves to be full - definitely one of the best curries I've had in Huddersfield.

After walking past Leena's Indian restaurant on a daily basis since it opened a couple of years ago, we decided to finally try a takeaway to test it out. We had a couple of starters, one being the spicy chicken wings (very hot, but delicious) followed by a chicken biryani and a keema karahi. Both were amazing, in fact my husband said it's the best biriyani he's ever had!
We've since had a couple more takeaways and the quality has been the same and we've tried the buffet that they have introduced. This is fantastic value and the food is so fresh-it doesn't have that "past it's best" taste that some buffets do! A note if you're eating in the restaurant-don't expect glamour, it's all about the food!
