    Overall rating : 1.21.21.21.21.2 | Experience type: Eat-in
    | Food: 2/5 | Value: 1/5 | Service: 1/5 | Atmosphere: 1/5 | Toilets: 1/5 |

We are not familiar with the area or places to eat in Wantage as we have just relocated to the area.

We have eaten in a few places in Wantage and have so far been most satisfied with the food and service. We stopped in the Wantage Sqaure at 19h00 to find somewhere new to eat and decided to eat at the first new place in sight. We noticed the KA's Head and decided to give it a try.

The establishment presents itself as reasonable with what could be a cosy local pub atmosphere. We looked around and noticed a few couples dotted around the pub with adequate seating and table space.

We approached the bar and the front of house / waiting staff greeted us in a warm and friendly way. We were handed 2 menu's and advised that full table service was available and to find a seat wherever we liked.

We decided on a 2 seater table located in the front room to the left of the restaurant. Although couples were darted around the place all the tables seemed to be catering for larger parties. We waited around 5-8 minutes for the waitress to appear and ask if we were ready to order. We requested a round of drinks and a bit of time to digest the menu contents.

Drinks arrived and we had decided on our meals. It was a rather limited selection of starters so we went straight for Mains. I decided on the 28 day matured Steak cooked Medium Rare and my Wife ordered the Crab, Prawn and Chorizo Linguine.

There was a constant aroma in the room of what can only be described as cat urine. It was quite nauseating for most part of sitting there. Both of us kept trying to pinpoint the source.

Food took around 20 minutes to be delivered.

The Steak was approximately 8oz in size and cooked correctly to temperature as ordered. It was served on the plate with a butter and black pepper kernel topping aided by a side of fries (smaller than a child size cone ordered from a "chippy"), a grilled tomato and rocket leaves with finely grated cheese. It was EXTREMELY ambitious for the £18 price tag. I'd had better steaks in some 2 for £10 chains in my life.

The linguine was what can only be described as canned spaghetti warmed and thrown on a plate with 3 bits of prawn and one or two chorizo pieces for luck. When we enquired from the waitress where the crab was we were informed that it was in the sauce. Needless to say the meal was left far from finished.

We hastily finished our drinks, walked to front of house and were presented with the bill.

We paid out £45 and wont be back again.
