Katzenjammers is a bar and restaurant in the Hop Exchange buildings on Borough High Street, in Southwark. They serve a huge range of German beers, and traditional German food such as Bratwurst, Schnitzel and - of course - Currywurst. Katzenjammers is open for lunch and dinner.

I have to say that it was a very dreadful experience tonight being out in this restaurant/pub… or whatever it was…. Getting the bill serverd before the meal was quite a surprise for the whole bunch of 15 people I was there with… Overpriced beer (0.5l Augustiner Edelstoff 4.95 GBP, of course a luxury to get it in London) Poor service, who didn’t even apologize to my complaint.. The dish i ordered was the saussage platter, it looked appalling and has nothing to do with the food I know from my own country. The saussages looked like cooked with a hair drier!! How embarrasing, for me as a German to go out on a night with friends in a place like this. Never again….

Great place for after work drinks... and food. Sausage and chips is the way to go here, there's a good choice of German sausages (bratwurst, rindsbratwurst, nbrockwurst, bratwurst etc). Currywurst is pretty good too.

Katzenjammers (located in the cellars of the Hop Exchange buildings near Borough High Street) is a great place for a beer and a bite to eat after work. They have a huge range of German and specifically Bavarian beers on tap and in bottles - including some unusual ones such as smoked beer (Rauchbier).
The food is also traditional German / Bavarian fare - sausages, sauerkraut, schnitzel and alike. The food is all well cooked, served in reasonable size portions and turns up reasonably quickly.
I've eaten here several times and always had a good meal - and really good evening. Like any good pub/bar it gets busier on Thursday/Friday evenings - but service (they do table service for both food and beer) always seems to remain quick and friendly.
