Recommended to me by my friend Mitch (Thanks pal)
My daughter (age11) My wife and I had a wonderful experience.
The place was moderately busy. Immaculately clean. Nicely laid tables and polite staff who were not over attentive (good) just right.
The food was excellent! Nicely prepared and well presented while being Punjabi and not made just for the English pallet (Yes I am). In other words it was nicely different and stood head and shoulders above most of the rubbish that we get in Huddersfield.
Beautiful food. Authentic. Nice level of service. Lovely ambiance. Good value. 5 out of 5 Stars
And another thing.. Drink water with your food, If you can't wait for a beer then get a life and go elsewhere. Love your food!

After having read previous reviews my expectations were very high, unfortunately this place did not live up to the hype. I'm very disappointed in the food as it was clear to see both the meat and chicken were dry on top. Seemed as though it had been sitting for a while. The rice was no better and had a most unpleasant pungent smelt and once more seemed reheated. Also, I would question whether one plate of starters for each table would suffice the "buffet" label. When we asked for more we were point blankly refused, and informed we would have to fork out more money. Also, no alcohol is permitted on the premises I for one would like the option of being able to bring my own to enjoy with my meal. Also, when I walked into the restaurant I could see into the kitchen area where food is kept in containers without any kind of cover just sitting idly. It is clear to see that all thought/effort was put into the decor and the food was an afterthought. "All style no substance" comes to mind!! Needless to say I shan't be setting foot into this shambolic establishment again :)

It was Friday evening at 9pm when we arrived at Jannat. There was not a single diner in there!
We were shown the buffet upstairs, but opted for the a la carte downstairs. The waiter was very attentive - possibly a little too much, I think we were asked about 5 times if the food was ok.
I wasn't that hungry so just opted for a main & naan. Poppadoms arrived without us ordering them (and were then charged to the bill - something I really dislike). The food was nice enough, but the lack of diners on a Friday evening (presumably because alcohol isn't served) wouldn't make me rush back.

Called in for lunch last Saturday 20th October 2012 with my daughter, like the review above quite rightly says the restaurant looks very posh and welcoming when you go in, but we were both disappointed with a number of things. We went upstairs for the buffet but there were only 2 choices of curry available both very hot and spicy i.e. lamb and chicken, nothing for someone who preferred something milder like Korma or Tikka. We noticed whilst eating that there were flies flying around and of course its more welcoming for a restaurant to leave the front door open but I do think there should have been a fly screen on the door. I ordered coffee to end the meal, and was presented with a mug of coffee and the mug had a large crack running down one side. Enough said I don't think we will be going there again.

Booked on the Friday, for a Saturday seating. Arrived for 7pm first impressions very good clean restaurant 5* ambiance, great furnishing etc.
As it was for a 60th birthday party for 10 a few got sat down while we waited for the others we wanted drinks so when we asked the waiter he said please wait i need to put the ac on came back 5 mins later took our drinks order after 20 mins still no drinks baring in mind it was hot day we was the only ones there and my poor two yr old was crying of thirst not happy!!!! but thought just leave it only look like his working. Please note they do not sell alcohol nor can you bring your own I don't drink but the lady who birthday it was does there website does not state this.
So as the waiter continues to try and sell his food I asked if I could order for my son, and when I asked what I wanted he said that wasn't available and then continued to try tell me about something else.
At this point we asked if we could all have the buffet as we thought it was a great opportunity to try a variety Punjabi food at this point we got told were not doing the buffet today because we so busy with a wedding yesterday we didn't have time but he could give us a starter which consist of one drumstick each and for a main a chicken or lamb dish for the same price. OMG could not believe it we specifically asked when booking, for the buffet, and that just topped it off 3 strikes and we was out, ended up going somewhere else.
Just saying if your a new restaurant you would think everything would be available wouldn't of minded if you had a full sitting but we was the only ones there and you couldn't fulfil any requirements. Like they say don't judge a book by its cover - looked fab on the outside but didn't on the inside very poor service.
