I would love to leave a review about the food from Jades Chinese Takeaway in Whitton, however we can't. We arrived at Jades and placed an order. A young lady wrote down our order in front of us and said she would put it through the system and would let us know how much it was. She then started taking other telephone orders, as did her colleagues, as well as other orders from people in person. As she was constantly taking orders it was only about ten minutes later that I could double check ours had actually gone through to the kitchen. However after initially coming to the counter, which another one of her colleagues now occupied (who was taking yet another telephone order) the girl very suddenly turned around and went into the kitchen, which would have been the first time she'd been available to speak to after taking our order.

Another girl came out and started taking telephone order after telephone order, completely ignoring us and the rest of the people waiting at Jades. One person also waiting with us actually rang them up from inside the store and asked the girl if she could serve the people waiting in the shop and only then did she do so (this actually happened)! We asked right away if our order had actually been put through and the girl started looking through lots of bits of paper, without really answering us. She then took another order from someone else, which obviously seemed to suggest it had gone through but wasn’t reassuring at all. As soon as she was done, I wanted a definitive answer, she then asked me what we'd ordered and then looked shocked; it obviously hadn't even been put through the system and it was now 20 minutes after we’d placed the order.

It seemed to me after realising she'd served a LOT of people after taking our order but before putting ours through the system, the original girl knew what she was doing was wrong and then before we could speak to her again, she hid herself in the sanctuary of the kitchen, hoping that we'd leave or not say anything (we never saw her again even though she wasn’t dressed for cooking and was clearly a front of house staff member).

Instead of apologising, offering some kind of compensation or even checking what had happened with the original girl, the second girl simply asked us for our order again, seemingly perfectly content that we had ordered (and seen our order written down in front of us) and waited 20 minutes in the shop, for absolutely no reason. Judging from her nonchalant reaction in simply trying to take our order again, anyone watching this situation could be forgiven for thinking this was common practice at takeaways all across the country.

The real audacity of the situation was that the restaurant was so clearly taking more orders than they could handle and they only seemed to care about taking more orders rather than making sure they could take care of their customers.

I've never been treated that way in a restaurant before; we're definitely not going back, as unsurprisingly I'm not that keen to be treated that way again. All that this takeaway provided for us was a waste of half an hour and petrol.
