Really good value and a wide range of food available. Clean but it's easy to loose your cutlery, there are also no knives.

The free ice cream afterwards is really nice but the floor isn't flat so you have to watch your step.

Went to The Imperial for a lunchtime buffet. Found the food was reasonably priced, but drinks were extortionate (£2.80 for a large coke).

Food wasn't fantastic - not very much choice for a buffet.

Staff very hostile towards diners - cannot wait to whip your plate away, and felt pressurised to leave.

Would recommend if looking for cheap lunch out, but not the best.

Very good value for money, we would highly recommend to anyone on a budget. We enjoyed the food, and had no problems with the staff who were polite. The only hiccup was that you need to pay cash, and hubby had to pop to the bank while Mrs T waited in the restaurant before we could pay and go home...

Great place to eat. £4.50 for an "all you can eat" buffet lunch speaks for itself, I believe. I note earlier reviewers' references to "hovering waiters." Clearly, one man's "hovering waiter" is another man's "attentive waiter." When you've cleared your place you want it to be removed at once, surely, to enable you to replace it with a fresh plate filled with more food! (There are stacks of fresh plates adjacent to the food bar.) In fact, the restaurant REQUEST that you to use a fresh plate each time you visit the food bar. And the last thing you want to see when you and your party return to your seats with a full plate is the table covered with empty but soiled plates!

We love it... kids love it... wallet loves it... :)

Only downfall is the hovering waiting ready to grab your plates!? Overall great place for small prices :)

Ok.... so there was this man and oh my goodness, he ate just everything and then when we asked them to re-stock on hot food, he just stood over us and waited for us for our plates to be clean but oh no! we had no food for our plates to be clean so we though ho hum, lets just eat the prawn crackers but then again...there weren't any!

    oh the darn beggers!

This is a very good place to eat, food is very nice have been going for 3 years now and the only disappointing bit is that the food very rarely changes do no new items.

But the price is fair and staff are friendly ;-)

I feel mulsey must have been in a different resturant i live in the Chelmsford area and have been to The Imperial Chinese many times. The price is spot on, you can eat how ever much you like for 4.50 or evening 8.50, whats wrong about that! The staff are great some are aragant but most are kind and very helpfull, and as if they take your plate straight away normally my plate is there for to long. The food avalible is allways top notch the only complant would be the toilets but thats not gonna spoil my dinner.

We have always found this chinese excellent and always received very good service. we have been going there for many years and and i do not understand anyone that is not happy with this very good value chinese buffet if you go when it is very quiet yes the food turnover is not very quick but it still is a very high standard. we are treated very well and the service is always outstanding do not listen to people that complain they must be off their head. the lunch time meal is good value at £4.50 and the evening one at £8.90 can't go wrong going on Sunday for lunch hmmmmm
