The restaurant was Shehzad Hussain's second under the "Hussain's" name, the first being in Brighouse which reopened as "Hussain's" in January 2013 (see related restaurants section); he also setup the well regarded Balooshai in Huddersfield town centre.
Street offers takeaway, or delivery within a 4 mile radius, with a charge of £1 per mile (minimum delivery charge £2).
Previously called "Street: The Curry Bistro", the restaurant was renamed in January 2013.

I love a good pickle tray and the start of this meal slapped my taste buds with the godfather of pickle trays. The curry that followed was a tempting journey through spice heaven, subtle yet packing just enough of a kick to make me go home happy. Need I say anymore? In the famous words of Arnold Swarchzenegger, I'll be back!

I have takeaway from here regularly and it's always excellent, as is the service. Prices are reasonable, the only issues being the lack of delivery and the fact that (at the time of writing) they don't take cards.
They're happy to temper the heat of the food to suit your tastes - my daughter can't abide spicy food but they do an extra-mild korma for her and she absolutely loves it.
Highly recommended.

The food was too Hot. I'm from Pakistan and I'm used to heat, but I've never had anything that hot in my life and I didn't ask for it.
Straight to bin after two mouthfuls.

Brilliant. The best curry in Huddersfield by a long way. Seem to have dropped their prices since rebranding too, which is a bonus. Shame they don't deliver.

Went expecting to find new owners at my local curry house, found the same people that ran Street serving the same food with the same great taste for half the price !!!!!!!! What's this all about - is someone subsidising this ?

Visited Street for a family meal on Friday 27th October.
The food was very good, but we felt the portions were quite small and the prices were too high. Nicely decorated restaurant but it was quite cold.
Won't be rushing back.

Easily the best curry I've ever had. We were even offered to try our curry to make sure it was as we wanted it and if not they would make another. Absolutely faultless and on our doorstep. I loved it!!!

We booked at the last minute for early doors (6 p.m. Friday).
Very welcoming and attentive staff.
Food - what can I say - amongst the best we've had.
Price - spot on pricing.
Ambiance - unhurried, relaxed and comfortabl
All in all an excellent evening - nothing was too much trouble.
Will definitely visit again - well done to you all :)

We ordered the 'family munch' and my did it feed us all. A great selection of starters mains and sides plus trifle to end your meal. Great value ! Will def order again - loved the pickle tray - we had such a selection of pickles dips to tray in individual containers. My only comment would be - to put in foil containers not plastic as foil keeps the food hotter longer - we are minutes away do not particularly a problem fit us but may be for others? Restaurant food in the comfort of your own home - come here! :)

I'm a big lover of Indian (and of course Pakistani) food and when I heard that Street was opening in Lindley I was excited - I've been to their restaurant in Brighouse many times with friends and had great food.
I'm pleased to report that Street in Lindley lives up to it's namesake's reputation for food - infact I think the food here is better. My main of Lamb Harhai was beautiful, as were the accompaniments. A small thing I know, but I loved the way the nan breads were served wrapped in pretty little towels.
Tonight was my third visit (in two weeks!) and it certainly won't be my last! I've marked service down because on my last two visits it has been a bit slow and confused, but ti be fair the first time I went it wasn't so bad. Oh, and you just can't fault the prices either - so reasonable for Lindley!

Was so looking forward to the street was quite giddy when I found out we were going on Thursday just gone. Dead flowers on the table, no napkins on our table, drinks unavailable (beer not on draught) pickle tray weird selection in one new potatoes chopped up, not really new potatoes as they all were sprouting! The mint sauce one had dries up slops round it. Not a nice start, the two curries were ok nothing fantastic, rice ok the nans were very much like Asdas own nans not at all like fresh nans we have had at other restaurants, what a shame.

Ate at the street last night fantastic food and service. The chef sent out a complementary dish to try and it was fab. Am definitely going again best curry restaurant in Huddersfield!

This had to be one of the best Asian restaurants I have been too - and there are a lot to choose from around here. I've been to Street in Brighouse several times and when I heard there was a Street restaurant opening a few minutes walk from my house I was so excited. I was so pleased!
The food certainly lives up to the other restaurant's reputation and that is the most thing, but I did feel the service as a little aloof.

There's real talent behind the cooking at Street, and when they get Taylor's Landlord on draught I might move in. In the meantime you can choose from the usual curry house bottled beers (with the surprise addition of Old Speckled Hen) and a good selection of wines. Relax and have a drink in the quirky furnished upstairs lounge, then descend to your table for a real treat.
This is proper Asian food presented by a chef who really knows what he's doing and I intend to work my way through the entire menu eventually.
We have dined in some superb Asian restaurants and this is right up there with the very best.
Another winner from the team who brought you Balooshai in Honley and Street in Brighouse - book your table now.

I would say this is the best restaurant in Huddersfield.
The food was just delicious and the staff and the service was outstanding.
We ate around 9pm having drinks first in the upstairs lounge.
The ambiance was so relaxing a real treat for myself and the ladies whom I dined with.
We all choice different dishes, and each and every dish that came we went in to raptures of how amazing the spices and the tastes were.
Well done Street we will certainly revisit and recommend. First class in every way.
A little tip having read previous reviews would be book a table, as this is such a quant and delightful experience I would be surprised if you could get a table without booking.

My husband and I went for a meal and I have to say I am so pleased this restaurant is local to us as it was a wonderful experience! The atmosphere was lovely, the staff were very attentive and wanting to please, but most importantly the food was absolutely delicious!!! We had the Quality street mixed starter to share and I had the panneer shashlik for main! I would happily recommend the restaurant and thank Shabeen and the male waiter (obviously new but very accommodating) for making the overall experience such an enjoyable one!! X

Fantastic night with the most delicious food ever.
I was spoilt for choice and we all choose different and tried each others meals.
The variety and taste of the various dishes were just gorgeous.
We will be going again and will be recommending this restaurant.

Street Bistro in Acre Street rocks - so refreshing - so calm, so funky, so atmospheric and most of all so authentic and so tasty - amazing to have a curry gaf at such close quarters that has real flair and obviously a real love for the food - service was attentive but not fake, food was outstanding and every mouthful packed a flavoursome/delicate/delicious/lovingly spiced punch. Great value, great dining experience - we will be back n back n back - hurray and welcome to the neighbourhood - my family are already well on board x

My 12 year old daughter and I ate here on a wet Friday evening. The lady at front of house and her staff were welcoming, attentive but not at all intrusive.
We chose poppadoms which were fresh and crispy and 8 tasty pickles to start as we wanted to fully appreciate our main course. We were not disappointed. My haddock Karhai was outstanding. The fresh ginger, plump tomatoes and chillies complemented the perfectly cooked haddock. The sharp, hot spicy sauce and textures were accompanied by the lightest , melt-in-the-mouth paratha I've ever had! My daughter claimed her chicken korma was the best ever and her garlic naan deliciously soft. I decided to try a pudding and loved the aromatic combination of kulfi and rose noodles jelly with basil seeds.
Having been to a Michelin star Indian/Pakistan restaurant in London I would say the food was comparable if not better!
A great start for Street Bistro. We will definitely be back!

The food was excellent, 5 of us all enjoyed our chosen meal.
Very nicely presented and decorated throughout.
Service was good, all the staff pleasant and efficient.
Previous reviewers seemed to have failed to appreciate the difficulties in opening a new restaurant from scratch and the inevitable hitches that occur, given a little more time and I am suree it will be as efficient as Shehzard's other enterprises.

Had a very enjoyable evening at Street last night. We were made to feel very welcome and the service was attentive without being too much. We were given a complimentary pickle tray with poppadoms while we waited for our meal. The food was delicious! House wine was nice and reasonably priced. The upstairs has a comfortable seating area which was really nice to relax in and have a drink after the meal. Would definitely recommend this place and can't wait to go again.

Great food, shame about the rest.
We arrived at Street at about 19:30 tonight without a reservation. On arrival, we were behind another group waiting at the door. The lady who appeared to be in charge of front of house saw us waiting, but carried on busying herself without even acknowledging us - a simple "I'll be with you in a moment" would have been fine. Other waiting staff walked passed without an acknowledgement too. After several minutes, the chef/owner walked passed, asked if we had been seen and sorted things out - took a about a minute of his time, why couldn't his staff have done this?
The restaurant is small and it was busy, and we were told there would be a wait of around 30 minutes - so we went upstairs to the lounge area and had a drink. It took a bit longer to actually get the table, which is understandable - they can only estimate the length of time it'll take for people to leave... but during the time we were waiting nobody checked or gave us an update waiting time.
The menu really sells the food short descriptions (where they are provided) are brief, unhelpful and littered with spelling mistakes - this is a real wasted opportunity, especially as most people aren't familiar with Pakistani food. The drinks menu isn't much better, it- lists Timmy Taylor's & Cobra as being on draft but there aren't taps for them; on the way out I noticed bottles of Dom Pérignon (who drinks that with curry?!) in the fridge but not on the menu, etc. Even the drinks that they did have were in short supply, they had run out of Cobra at 19:30, and Kingfisher not long after - there were stacks of the stuff sat in the stairwell downstairs, so just a case of the fridges not being restocked, silly.
Service was chaotic and distant; perfunctory most of the time, confused the rest with drinks orders being delivered to random tables and food coming at different times.
All this aside, the food was great. The mixed starter, oddly called 'Quality Street Mix' was all very nice, if slightly over cooked in places, with the fish tukra, lime and pepper prawn and seek kebab being the best parts for me (less fussed about the pineapple tikka). My main was Keema Mutter, one of my favourite Pakistani dishes and this is probably the best I've had - rich and with plenty of heat. The nan bread was good, soft and quite sweet - it came wrapped in a cloth to keep it warm - however the (attractive) basket it was served in was simply too big for the table. Our side of paneer methi palak was also good.
Given time I'm sure all the problems will be ironed out; the food here is superb and if the service and experience gets close to the food it is going to be a great restaurant. I'll go back, but I'm not in a rush.

I ate here recently and I was a little disappointed. When we arrived it was very busy and we were told it'd be about 30 minutes for a table. We sat upstairs in the lounge area which has some comfy low seating and tables). An hour later and we were finally seated - I understand that you cant predict exactly when a table will be free, but a little update to say there was going to be a delay would have been nice.
The mixed starter was a little overdone in parts but the flavours were very nice. I was a little disappointed that my main of king prawn karhai arrived with a separated sauce. Once mixed together it tasted really good. There was a very generous portion of prawns - I counted about 12 on the plate. We shared a rice and nan - I was a little disappointed with the portion size of both the rice but both were very nice.
There seemed to be an air of chaos in the restaurant. We were seated near the stairs leading to the kitchen and there was lots of shouting heard in the restaurant from downstairs. The waiting staff were also pretty much running up the stairs with the food. When visiting the toilets, the kitchen door was open and there were dirty plates everywhere - on the sides and on the floor. It's not really what you want to see as a diner!
The service wasn't that great, the waitresses serving the tables were polite, but I didn't get the feeling the lady in charge cared when she asked if everything was ok with the food.
I understand the restaurant only opened on Tuesday last week so there's bound to be teething problems - I'm sure it'll be a great restaurant but I dont think I'll rush back.
