Setup in 1995 by Simon and Janet Bake, Gimbals in Sowerby Bridge offers diners rustic British cooking using locally sourced ingredients.

Example dishes from the menu are: pan fried calves liver with potato, pancetta and sage terrine with dubonnet syrup and sweetbreads; salt and pepper squid with tandoori monkfish, nigella seed dhal and tamarind; and a British seafood hotpot containing mussels, clams, smoked salmon, crab and sea trout.

A mid-week menu offers two courses for £15.90 and three for £18.90.

The restaurant offers private hire either of their dining room, or the upstairs lounge. Outside catering is also available.
