Myself and my partner recently dined here and was blown away with the food and service, so we decided this week to get a take away. We both ordered the same thing but both were totally different standard of meal, carbonara-dry.

Polio daniela-sauce was watery compared with before, described with a Malibu sauce this was missing in the dish. And instead of mango I was given peace slices which gave the dish a completely different taste. I was disappointed with this and I doubt ill be back.

We visited Gianni's for an early dinner on Sat Sept 15th, It had been a long time since my last visit, and unfortunately we were extremely disappointed. The Restaurant itself is in need of some serious re-decoration, it looked grubby and dated, the papery-plasticky table covers looked cheap and felt unpleasant.

Attempting to remain enthusiastic as the company I was with had never been, I was raving about the food, advising how authentically Italiani it was and how we were in for a real treat. Unfortunately it also was a great disappointment!

The bread we had requested "con formaggio" arrived cold and with no cheese! The bowls of Pasta were more like starter size, and lacked flavour as well as the spicy sausage!

Disappointed with our choice for a main course we decided to have dessert. The waiter cleared our plates away, made no suggestion of seeing the dessert menu, we waited around 20mins while he seated other tables then frustrated we paid the bill and left.

Gianni himself was as friendly and welcoming as ever, it's just a shame the rest of our visit was so disappointing!!

Loved this place. The warm and friendly greeting was only matched by some excellent food (I work in catering myself for the past 15 years so know a little about food) the service was fine fine with the waiter taking the order of Bruschetta for myself and prawn salad for my wife who is very exacting when it comes to seafood and she thought that it was good giving it a 7/8 out of 10 I gave the bruschetta the same it was a large portion and the tomatoes were lovely. The main courses were to die for Donald Russell fillet steak for me was the highlight it was also a lot bigger than I had at gleneagles last year and less than half the price!! And to top that it was cooked perfectly sitting on toasted bread with pâté and a rossina sauce mmm. My wife had lobster Thermidor which she thought was as good as she has had anywhere(with the exception of when I cook it I reminded her politely on to be equally reminded me no she did mean what she had said!!) this was washed down with a half carafe of red and the same of white house wine perfectly pleasant and drinkable wines...the cost was 30 quid per head now that to me was the best part as it was my turn to pay as she had paid at glen eagles a win win ..I will be back and will take advantage of there take away delivery service which I will report on when I try it next,,

Quite honestly - disappointed doesn't quite sum up how I felt recently having had the Giannis experience.
Having used this establishment since opening in Bathgate I can now say I will not be back.
Went to Giannis on Hogmanay and it was awful. Overpriced badly cooked food, poor service (having to try and grab a member of staff to take an order whilst another member of staff is passing chairs over your head to try and make up a large table is ridiculous) and then at the end of the night having to query the total on the bill, not just once but twice due to being overcharged is taking it too far.
Next year, will be going in to Edinburgh for a far superior meal at two thirds of the price we paid at Giannis (and that includes the train fare)!

This little Italian on the main street in Bathgate really disappointed me greatly, I had passed it many times and thought it might be a nice place to eat. I was so wrong, Me and my mum went there for lunch we were welcomed by the owner himself who was nice enough to start with. We ordered and our starters were served quickly.
My mum had garlic and cheese bread which was ok but extremely greasy, I ordered prawn salad, the prawns were old and frozen, the sauce was crazy including Tabasco sauce which in my eyes does not go with prawns. When the owner came to collect our plates I expressed my opinions on the prawns only to be told I was wrong. Well that really got to me since ain't the customer always right he never even offered me a replacement.
We then were served our main omelets and chips which your thinking I could make this myself, yes I should have. Our omelets were both runny inside and when we told the owner and asked for them to be heated more he said all tastes are different. In the middle of all this two tables of his friends came in which I think distracted him a lot and I feel made him make these mistakes.
However I never got my coffee since he was too busy talking with his mates to notice we had finished our main. We got up and asked for the bill. I then expressed my thoughts on his service he just laughed in my mums face then started to talk in Italian to his friends who begun laughing with them. I felt really horrified at our treatment especially since my mum was their she definitely at sixty years of age does not deserve this treatment, so much for Italians looking after family this Italian obviously only looks after his self and his own. I will never be back
