Friends of Ham is a deli bar serving craft beers alongside great hams, charcuterie and cheese - a lot of which will be sourced from Yorkshire suppliers, but with some artisan produce such as Iberico ham brought in from further afield.
Example dishes from the menu include smoked salmon on toast with lime, black pepper and lavender crème fraîche (£6.00); and a Yorkshire ploughman's lunch of half a pork pie, Fountain's Gold cheese, ham, salad, pickles and bread (£7.50). There are also sharing platters and bar snacks such as scotch eggs and pork pies.
Some products such as the meats, cheeses, chutneys, dressings, teas and coffees used in the bar are available to takeaway.
The bar is stocked with cask and keg beers from small local breweries supplemented by bottled beers and wines from around the world.
The bar area upstairs is supplemented by a large seating area downstairs with communal and individual tables, sofas and a shuffle-board table.

I stopped off at Friends of Ham for a drink and a quick snack on the way back home from a day of meetings in Leeds a few weeks ago. I've been in for a drink many times, but this was my first time trying their food. I had a platter of meat/cheese which came with a few slices of good bread, cornichons and some tiny pots of chutney and sweet chilli sauce. The meats were Carne Salata Malenca and Chrozio, the beef was delicious but I thought the Chorizo had a slightly harsh taste compare to many I've tried. The cheeses - which I've now forgotten the names of were both good.
Beers were, as ever, excellent.

Just back from another great night at this brilliant bar in Leeds. Friends of Ham has the best beer list around - always something new and unusual on cask or in bottles, and always in top condition. Food is equally impressive, good quality charcuterie and snacky stuff (scotch eggs etc) - exactly what you want with a few beers. Always a lovely atmosphere, particularly downstairs where it is relaxed and friendly. Not the cheapest, but I'd rather pay an extra few pennies a pint for something decent that has been looked after well than skimp and get rubbish beer.

Cool new bar with delicious food and a brilliant choice of beers. Didn't have a full meal but shared a board of cheese and meats with mates over a couple of drinks and they were top quality. Staff are lovely and the shuffleboard table is a great quirky addition - never seen one of those before!
I agree to an extent with the other reviewers saying it is expensive - it isn't cheap, but I think it is good value for money. If you want to drink loads and get hammered, go to a chain pub in the city centre!

Love. This. Place.
Loads of great beers on tap, seems to change practically every day. Scotch eggs are delicious and the "two meat two cheese" platter is a great accompaniment to a few beers. Try the fennel salami, it is just the best. Staff are lovely.
ps. don't do what I did first time and think it is tiny, there is a huge downstairs!

I pass this little place everyday to and from the train station on my way to work and after a particularly awful Monday, asked the husband to meet me for a drink and some snacks here as it seemed an easy place to find and be. I am so glad we did. The people there are super friendly, the food is just amazing and with the taster portions, I was able to try out six of their beers without getting sloshed!
Highly recommend the green olives and the sharer platter. I was swooning all the way home over how wonderful it was and already planning my next visit. Not a place for the faint of wallet, but is definitely worth every penny.

Beautiful bar with a great selection of beers on tap and bottled. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and some good music playing downstairs (at a sensible volume!). It comes at a price though, beer is on average £5+ a bottle (a lot more in some cases) and the cask ales aren't any cheaper.
Tasting plates of ham with olives and bread were great, but more of a snack than a meal so again it felt expensive despite the obvious quality of the meats.
All in all, a great addition to Leeds, would be a good place to meet friends or to socialise with colleagues after work, but only if they are slow drinkers! ;-)

I nipped in here for "just one beer, dear" on the way to Leeds train station, but stayed for some food (and a couple more beers, don't tell the wife). The scotch egg was delicious, as was the ham I tried (I've forgotten the name, must have been the beer!).
The place is really nicely done up, and seemed pretty busy considering it has only been open for a few weeks and it was early evening when I called in. My only criticism is the drinks are expensive - but then most are usual things you don't see much elsewhere. I come through Leeds regularly for work and I'm sure I will return, but certainly not for a heavy drinking session!
