Would I visit Firenze again yes.... but I would have to order 3 hours earlier and extra for the guy with a gun to my head, harsh but necessary. On arrival everything seemed ok. The drinks and order were slightly slow but acceptable-ish as there were only 2 couples and a family of 5 in there. Mains came out almost as soon as the starters were cleared, defiantly NO home cooking involved, was all cooked in a microwave or put through the oven. We had prawn salad and a mushrooms with mozzarella in breadcrumbs (Definitely brought in) and cannelloni which was ok, and chicken Miguel which seemed ok. By this time we were the only couple in the restaurant, so there was no excuse for poor service, poor service I could have handled but it was none existent!!
We had desserts which was refrozen ice cream with burnt chocolate fudge cake and ice-cream with chocolate sauce. 45 minutes after finishing our desserts, at least being walked past continually by the waitress and the manageress and continual looks in our direction, our plates still sat on the table with us waiting for some acknowledgement that we would like the bill. They could clearly see that we had finished but carried on their conversations with the chef and others in the kitchen.
We made our comments about the desserts which her response was; “well it must have been when I put the sauce on”. HOW a manager thinks that ice cream crystallizes when you put chocolate sauce on it I don’t know. She even went to the extent of showing us an ice cream tub, and said it was fresh in today, anyone who is anyone in the industry and even if you’re not you don’t discredit the customers comment. Her look was as if we did not know what we were talking about & that we were just a pair of students. She still gave us the full bill of £50 after a 3 hour visit to the establishment, 2 of them hours waiting on some form of service.
I have worked as a chef for 3 years and now am a manager of a local restaurant, if I were to serve any food like that from my chefs, or to that standard of service, I would have lost so much custom and people would not still be coming back, I can say we will not be returning and surprised there not close to closure.
