On the night of our grandfathers funerals and dear old uncle bills birthday, we decided to celebrate to lift our spirits at the Drift bar in south sea. Upon arrival we where greeted with the morose warbling of what we assumed to be a dog in pain... however this is South Sea on a Sunday night and you have to take what you can get. We decided to stick it out and make the best of a poor situation. Having installed our selves we found to our delight a very helpful long haired bar tender who related to our situation, the older generation just wanting to have fun. Unlike the rest of the tedious sour faced water-drinking stint students (were sure students used to be fun) we proceeded to lighten the night up by having a lively time despite the lack of nuts and tonic water (which we procured from the local shop) and the dire persistent wailing from the obviously free so called talent. (perhaps designed to induce a one way dip into the Solent). Sadly are joviality was curtailed by the misadventures of a nut. Which induced the wrath of two particularly Neanderthal societal drop outs towards dear old uncle bill. This resulted in the unceremonious removal of bill, dear old chap. To our disgust the titular manager seamed unreasonably hostile to our suggestion that his reaction was unwarranted and over zealous. Sadly this put somewhat of the dampers on our evening of reminiscence. We left feeling deflated and saddened. In short for those in search of an uplifting, fun, lively or friendly atmosphere the drift is not for you.
