Setup by chef and owner Barrington Douglas who quit his day job with the intention of bringing the Caribbean food he loves to the people of Yorkshire and to raise its profile.
There is an early bird menu available between Tuesday to Thursday between 17:00 and 18:30 with two courses at £10.95 or three for £13.95.
There is also a small bar at the back of the restaurant serving Caribbean inspired cocktails with plenty of rum. Jamaican Red Stripe larger is also available. The menu features traditional Caribbean dishes such as ackee & saltfish, curry goat, jerk chicken, escabeche fish and brown chicken stew.
Discovery Bay featured on Gordon Ramsays The F Word in 2009 in the 'Best Caribbean Restaurant' category and Taste of the Caribbean with Gary Rhodes.

Discovery Bay is the closest we get in Huddersfield to a celeb chef's restaurant (he's been on TV a few times!). The food is good and in big portions, but perhaps a little over priced. Surprised to read a review saying the service wasn't good, it has always been warm and friendly when we've been.

This restaurant is the best... and the ribs are AMAZING! happy friendly environment and top quality food. Left with my belly full what more does one what.

Have seen this place on a couple of tv shows but have never been before now although we are local - this is because my family have travelled extensively around the Caribbean and know and love the food really well and always fear outside of the sunshine the food will not travel. Jerk was Jerky enough, Service was good if a little perfunctory for the "Carib" dining experience, the rest was ok but not all-together memorable - Great PR job done by these guys which is why we came but maybe they need to work on the details a little.

We ate here on Tuesday evening as we'd got tickets for the Lawrence Batley Theatre around the corner.
The staff were welcoming and friendly and although the restaurant was quite small and tightly packed you couldn't hear what the people at the next table were saying.
I dont have much experience eating Caribbean food so I was really excited to be trying tomething new. I opted for garlic prawns and langoustines (served in a half shell of pineapple), the garlic prawns were delicious, but the langoustines were very difficult to eat with their tough shells. For main I had jerk cod and a side order of roasted sweetcorn. There was quite a bit of heat in the jerk cod but I really enjoyed it. I had a dessert (not many restaurants that I can manage three courses in!) of coconut slice and ice cream. The coconut slice was served warm and tasted fantastic.
All in all it was a lovely evening and we were in and out of the restaurant within 2 hours.
