Situated in the small village of Cawthorne, not far from Cannon Hall Farm, Beatson House offers a three course menu at a fixed price (the price varies according to the night of the week). The menu changes regularly, and features plenty of local produce. Example dishes include: breaded deep-fried Barncliffe Brie with a port and wild berry compote (starter); 4 hour pork belly with a mustard glaze, black pudding and caramelised Bramley apples with a cider, mustard and sage sauce (main). Being close to Barnsley, the restaurant also offers authentic Barnsley lamb chops.
The restaurant has a small bar area (which, as well as a good choice of beers, wines and spirits, stocks their own "boozy infusions" - a range of flavoured liqueurs), and some outdoor seating available. The restaurant offers three private dining rooms, for 12, 16 or 22 people. Booking is advised at this restaurant. Child sized portions of dishes on the regular menu are available for under 12's at a reduced price.

Have dined here for the first time tonight. The welcome was friendly, the service excellent and the food well presented and delicious. A thoroughly enjoyable experience and great value!

We have visited Beatson House several times and it is always excellent! Great food, fantastic service, an all round fab experience! The food is always beautiful but my absolute favourite is the sticky toffee pud A*
See you again soon :-)

I've had several great meals at Beatson House. Dishes that stick in my mind are the spring rolls filled with spicy lamb and black pudding - a well balanced combination of beautifully spiced tender meat and rich black pudding, and the venison steak with shallots and a port sauce - good quality, meat (from a venison farm a few miles down the road) well cooked.
The service is as good as the food too, attentive and efficient.
The restaurant operates a 3 course fixed-price menu (there are a few supplements for expensive cuts of meat such as steak, but only a couple - and even with the supplements I think it's great value).
I'll definitely continue to eat at Beatson House.

What an absolutely amazing meal!
We arrived early for our table and sat outside with a glass of wine and reading the menu. The staff were really attentive even though we were outside and when we were ready we were shown to our table.
It was a bit of a tight squeeze on our table for 4 which is why I've marked the atmosphere down as I was sitting at a slight angle to the table as there wasn't space for elbows and eating!
Anyway, the food was *delicious*. I opted for a lamb and black pudding spring roll to start, slow roast belly pork for main and rose petal ice cream for dessert. The food was perfect. Just the right amount of food too as at this restaurant you pay a set price for your 3 courses so it's good that they dont overfill you on the starter and main course.
The service was spot on - just a slight delay when there wasn't a bottle of the wine we'd ordered chilled but nothing that spoilt the evening!
It was made even better when we used our Hi-Life card to get 2 for the price of 1! (you need to book in advance for this).
