What is the UK’s favourite takeaway?

As England prepare for the kick off of their second round match against Germany in the World Cup, thousands of takeaways are being ordered across the country, so we thought we’d find out what the UK’s favourite takeaway food is.

Over the last few weeks we’ve been asking visitors to thefoodplace.co.uk to tell us what their favourite takeaway food is.

The votes have been counted and verified (actually, we just clicked on a ’show results’ button) and we can reveal that the UK’s favourite takeaway food is … Chinese – with 31% of the votes. Other oriental takeaways such as Japanese, Malaysian and Thai were also popular.

Despite the nations favourite dish being chicken tikka masala, Indian takeaway was in second place with 25% of people choosing curry in our poll. Pizza was third, with just under 13% of the votes. Other popular choices (counted under ‘other’) were Spanish, Greek and Mexican. We also had several votes for roast dinners… we’d love to know where you’re getting those from!
